APM MacLean would like to invite qualified, enthusiastic individuals to apply for the following career opportunity: Architectural Technologist.
PURPOSE:
The Architectural Technologist plays an integral role in the development of drawings, details and specifications of all elements of a project. The incumbent develops, presents, and executes the building design and interprets the vision of our clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design the project; prepare and present the design proposals using Computer Aided Designs (CAD) and traditional methods when required
• Review and understand contract summaries of work with the ability to offer input into the creation of actionable design schedules
• Collaborate with external engineering partners and other personnel to resolve design challenges
• Collaborate with project teams and Project Managers to proactively support internal and external customers
• Communicate and coordinate directly with clients, consultants, contractors, Project Managers, etc.
• Prepare proposal specifications and presentation documents in accordance with client and/or project requirements
• Monitor projects during construction for compliance with construction drawings
• Produce computer generated 2D and/or 3D renderings
• Research and become familiar with Canadian building codes, construction methods, and practices
• Apply knowledge of codes, standards, and construction technology to solve specific design problems and implement solutions
• Resolve complex technical issues
• Research new products and construction methods as necessary
• Other duties and projects as required

Architectural Technologist
• Ability to stay current and learn new skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completion of a two (2) year Diploma in Architectural Technology from a recognized institution required
• 5+ years’ experience as an Architectural Technologist or related field
• Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET)
• On-site experience in a supervisory or labour role considered an asset
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD light, and Photoshop
• Working knowledge of Revit an asset
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a team in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
• Working knowledge of Canadian building codes, commercial and retail construction
• Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to analyze issues of various complexity and identify the appropriate course of action, using sound judgement and well-developed problem-solving skills
